Coping During a Crisis
Do you need ways to cope and stay calm during the COVID-19 crisis? If so, consider one of these:
Be Ready- Since so much of life right now feels out of our control, focus on what you can do. Secure your supplies. Buy frozen and canned food, cleaning products, prescriptions, and non-prescription meds. Make a list of local and world resources, websites and numbers, for the most current information.
Limit Media Time- It’s important to know what’s happening in your community and the world, but for now limit your news and social media exposure. Set boundaries and check in a few times during the day rather than engaging in a constant stream of negative, emotional disruptions.
Organize Environment- The act of organizing and cleaning engages a part of the brain that helps reduce stress and anxiety. Organizing your environment will positively affect your mood, increase your functioning, and enhance your enjoyment of being home.
